ZEBRA AND SNAKE - WE NEVER GO WHEN WE HAVE TO

The bouncy Helsinkians Zebra and Snake have a new track out called "We Never Go When We Have To" made of buzzly and cuttly late night nostalgia and intense hypnosisms.

The track was produced by Berlin dwelling Finlanders Jonas Verwijnen and Janne Lounatvuori at Kaiku Studios and it's the first single from Zebra and Snake's forthcoming "NIGHTTIME" EP which is going to be something swell indeed.

TV-RESISTORI - VOI EI, EI VOI OLLA TOTTA

After the Bääbs-Eurovision-razzmatazz of the group's singer Päivi Kankaro, TV-Resistori is finally getting their loong awaited third album out on Fonal Records, just as before. Still there's no actual release date for the record but now they've got a song called "Voi ei, ei voi olla totta" as a free download.

The song's first version is from April 15, 2008 and the record was indeed intended to get released two years ago. They say this is "propably the 15th version and we don't understand where all the time got spent".

The stakes are high for this release, as the group's previous record "Serkut rakastaa paremmin" that was released back in the ancient days of 2006 is one of the best Finnish pop records of the 2000s.

The song is a cheery and a bit messy bit that features the naive melodies and words and the duo singing that we've gotten to expect from the Turku group. It could be interesting to hear the previous versions, how they got from there to this.

The awesome futuists from Helsinki are here with a new video. This might be the most seriously raddest boogie banging music video released in Finland this year, with exploding hot dogs and lazer shooting eagles flying around. The song is definitely one of the best by the duo.

The dudes have also a new album called "TUM TUM TUM" out via Gaea Records.

HELSINKI WILL BE THE WORLD DESIGN CAPITAL OF THE YEAR 2012

International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) designated Helsinki as the World Design Capital for the year 2012 on November 25th, 2009.
The first World Design Capital was Turin (Torino) of Italy in 2008. World Design Capital 2010 is the South Korean capital Seoul.

Helsinki’s World Design Capital year 2012 will comprise a wide range of events and projects related to design and its manifestations. In 2012 Helsinki will also celebrate the 200th anniversary of becoming the capital of Finland, when the country was a grand duchy of the Russian Empire.

YVES ROCKER - 1

Here's a new mixtape from Yves Rocker. Not much is known about this skin care loving rocker except that he/she apparently resides in Finland. The mixtape features sweet nu-disko stuff from e.g. Aeroplane, Dixon and Nightwaves.

“I've had the album ready for 1,5 years now, and I feel a lot of the songs are a product of the environment I recorded them in. There was the unemployment, a long distance relationship that ended rather unhappily, and a lot of general who-am-I-and-what-am-I-supposed-to-do type of existential pondering.”

“Most of my songs have a basis in my personal life. They may be about what happened, what never happened, what I hoped would happen - or a combination of all, bending and stretching the truth, adding some things and leaving some out. I don't consider it storytelling though - it's more about what goes on inside a person than outside.”

Those are the words of Helsinki-based Koria Kitten Riot that is an anagram for Antti Reikko.  He makes superbly fragile and beautiful, minimalistic songs in his bedroom and sings with a soft hush that feels so intimate like everything is ready to burst into pieces at any given moment.

LE CORPS MINCE DE FRANÇOISE - SOMETHING GOLDEN

The shouting and bouncing Helsinki-sweethearts, Le Corps Mince de Françoise, have a new video out for the upcoming single "Something Golden" due out December 7th on the French label Kitsuné.

The video feature's a lot of serious cycling action on the streets of Helsinki or was it Paris?

ELECTRO SUPERHEROES KEKE AND ANA ARE BACK - "SLURPS!"

The pale riders spent the entire summer stinking in their digs, seeking inspiration for the new album from comics, the pounding bass drum of the city’s clubs, hangover lusts as well as from isopods and other molluscs. 

So JESSE is back with new material. The 2007 favorites' new single is called "Slurps!" and it is yet again another crunchy piece of analogue synth boogie and serious guitar licking action. The maxi single which features two new tracks plus a Jori Hulkkonen remix of the track Viimeiset Tanssit, will be followed by a new album, called "TUM TUM TUM" in November.
